Saw this over on newsarama. Until I read this, this is one of the last properties that I would have thought of being a comic. I never knew anyone who had even one of these toys growing up.

wow this is cool! Im actually excited about this

I may pick this up and start reading it when Joe goes reboot with IDW

way to go Devils Due , good move

I always thought that Lanard ( this is the lanard toy isnt it? ) should pursue a comic like GI JOE did, they really really needed some kind of promotion

my only question is if your going after a license like this, WHY not go for a ACTION MAN comic , I mean ACTION MAN is more widely known than the corps

Was there a back story to these toys? Something like file cards. I just remember them as being generic versions of GI Joe and that there were 3 to a pack.

From what I understand, there is no back story of any kind. It is a blank slate. So the DDP crew has pretty much free reign to play.

Oh..and I was all excited about breaking this news (I sat in on the panel) but Newsarama was a bit quicker.

I remember the "thumbs" breaking off of the corps characters easily....

I had some of them .... I've always wondered how they , the Corps, could stay on the shelf and GI JOE not in "production"??

hey phil does that mean will you be the military consultant on this book too?

that would be cool if you were, heres hoping you are

this could be a very good move for DDP I just hope Lanard is smart and really does cross promotion, I hate the toys but still it would be beneficial to everyone if lanards new packaging either included the comics ( putting more money into DDPs pocket) or at least said CHECK OUT THE CORPS comic book from DDP

this is a win win situation for both companies if they do it right

I just dont know why DDP didnt try to get the ACTION MAN license or COPS ( or maybe they did , Mike Bear did say on Deviant art that he MIGHT be doing something with Action Man)

So you won't read a reboot because the "characters will be all different" but you will read something with completely different characters. :? BUT, you've also stated in the past that Joe was the only comic you read. (No Spider-Man, no JLU, no Sgt. Rock, etc. just Joe.)
So is this just some sort've petty "revenge" thing?

Or have you deluded yourself into thinking that "the Corps" guys,
(Which btw, were like, the saddest knock -off toys ever.) being picked up by DDP will somehow exist in the current Hamaverse and keep this continuity going, like your previous "Action Force" proposal. Because, that's just absurd. (They're different toy companies, they won't be allowed to reference previous Joe characters and situations, not even the cruddy DDP Red Shadows. )

Yet your pobably the biggest champion of the Action Force comics on the net. I still find it ironic that you're sooo against a reboot yet you're so in love with Action Force and Extreme etc. Just does not compute. :?

well there is nothing that says GI JOE EXTREME (which happens in 2009 )doesnt occur in the same universe that the current DDP one resides in !! If anything it fits rather perfectly now

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't working on it.

After the headaches that Hasbro gave the creative team on GI Joe...why would they want to take on Action Man?...another Hasbro property.

Color me surprised.

I wish DDP the best of luck, but they have got an uphill battle on their hands.

Coming out from under the 'crappo Joe knock off' stigma of the corp is going to be tough.

Puts me in the mind of taking your date to the restaurant where your ex-girlfriend works.

The newsarama article is already filling up with knock off comments and fears that Remender is seriously over-committed. We'll have to see.

Good luck on the new gig Phil!
