It looks good in itself, but I think the clothing is too rough for a 17th century nobleman. This looks like something our of Braveheart. Even the mask itself may be too rough for the time, considering that the design of plate armour reached its peak in the preceding century.

It is actually intended to be earlier.
I drew it in response to a different thread http://www.joereloaded.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3478
The armor is modeled on the IG Destro with the pattern on the chest, the diamond shaped cape clasp, the rivets on the sleeves and the blades on the shoulder . I also wanted to have it look battle worn to show him as a hands on arms dealer not just a nobleman playing dress-up.
As for the mask I though about having it look more artful like a Greek or Roman style mask, but decided to keep it simple and rough because it was supposed to be a punishment.

That clears it up. I took a quick gander at JMM's page and came up with the year 1640, which fits Cromwell fighting the royalists. I did notice the influences from the Iron Grenadier version, which I personally much prefer to the open shirt version or the jumpsuit we have in the comics these days. Keep up the good work. I wouldn't mind seeing a 17th century Destro too.

Sweet. Love the detail you put into the tattoos.

Hmm, doesn't the military have regulations against extensive tattoos like that? Not really critiquing the picture, it just jostled a memory. Phil?

Yeah they frown upon them. When i was in the Navy. You could get one but make sure it stays covered up and not get one on your face, neck or hand. They also told me you could get in trouble for a getting a sun burn (destroying government property) but they never really did anything.

besides whats a sailor without a tattoo.

Nice artwork by the way.
