They haven't shown him as a contender yet, but there is someone that has been mentioned as a future threat to the Joes... The Mad Monk! Maybe the future commander? We will see...

I would like to see the new material in that tribute. I just do not want to pay for ANY of the reprint crap. Knowing my luck it won't be worth the price for the new material.

Dude, its 100 pages for 8 bucks. even when you subtract the 22 pages of Cobra 12, its still 78 pages for 8 bucks. Now of course its not all comic, there will be interviews and stuff, but think about what you normally get for 8 bucks.
I'd say its most likely worth it.
The head shot poster is a nice touch too....
And Tiger I think its unlikely in the extreme that Monk could be in the running. By the main conceit of the story he is a 1, utterly incapable of leading men, but so independent his chances of survival are very high. That's why he is the only one who can blind side Krake. Doesn't necessarily mean he can do it, just makes for more drama. My initial thought was that Krake might be the new commander because he is still a mystery. If any established character takes the job, they will remain their original character, just with a helmet.
Seriously could any of you actually take CC seriously if you knew it was Major bludd under there?

Seriously could any of you actually take CC seriously if you knew it was Major bludd under there? You come out of hiding with this? 78 pages of REPRINTS are STILL REPRINTS. Stuff I already have. Period. It's not a tradepaperback. If this seems like a good purchase to you? More power too you. Some people don't waste money on stuff they already have. Bottom line is that this will be MOSTLY reprint stuff.

Hiding? Nope, I been right here in front of my computer the whole time.... But thanks for the refresher on why I haven't been around for so long. Heh, guess there is some comfort to be had in the fact that somethings never change. I did miss where it said 'other classic CC stories.' But "crap"? Reprinted material is only crap if it was crap the 1st time around. You may or may not need it, you may or may not be happy about the new material to cost ratio, but calling it crap is a little much. And really I was just speculating with a positive outlook, no need to start soaking a phone book or anything....

Yeah...like I was really calling the material that is reprinted crap. Not the fact that some people like seeing the new stuff without paying extra for stuff they don't need again because they already have it. Get real Hebime. IDW has a better reprint thing going with the Hundred Penny Press stuff for $1. I don't hate reprints. Just when they are shoved in a 100 page book with new material that I want to see without the jacked up comic price. Plus I will NEVER pay $7.99 for a comic. I did not buy Future Noir. $7.99 for 100 pages of all new material would be a bargin. That will never happen. Not and make a profit for them. So the "Dude. It's a 100 pages for $7.99" boils down to your opinion over mine. To each their own.

i think you guys should hug it out why is it called a "civil war" if there is no real infighting? they are contestants in a contest to rack up kills that in turn makes them the new cc. if thats the case and im mindbender i beam in a nuke to the pit and blamo im the new cc! this whole thing just sounda lame to me. the mass device just trumps ANYTHING that would make for a good story. idw screwed the pooch when they brought that thing in the continuity. almost as bad as the brainwave scanner being the cure all for anything not going right over in the other book. so 3 new titles? and with multiple covers i could give a rats behind about...great, guess i put in some more over time to feed my joe habits lol is this a reboot of the reboot? i hate cross overs with a passion. its one of the reasons i dropped all my marvel titles years ago, but i will give idw credit on one thing is that this "civil war" doesnt require me buying all the other books to follow along. being a completist i will anyway tho lol with my memory getting worse every year i should just drop all idw books and start rereading the old marvel stuff in order, one a month, and be more entertained and save cash hahahaa

I am looking forward to seeing where they go with this, but I can't shake the fact this isn't really the Cobra Commander. If the tribute shows stuff from Classic CC stories, you know, the guy who went from used car salesman to potential world dictator, that's not some dude who holds an office for the secret Cobra Cabal. It would however be nice if the "Cobra Reborn" story made it's way into reprint. Now THAT'S Cobra Commander!

cold meds got my brains all discomboobulated but has it been said this this rebooted cc was a car salesman? im going to read the story of course but i hold out litte hopes it will be something great. the mass device has just ruined this series for me. both sides have it so how can one trump the other when you can teleport pretty much anywhere. what the fobbits needs to do is create some kinda white noise generator or <shudder> a force field to counteract the mass device to tone it down some. in the marvel continuation i wish the brain wave scanner had gone by the waste side. some of these people get a regular dose of it and some have had so many turns in the seat you would think they would go nuts or develope some kinda multiple personalities due to its memory alternations. even if it wears of or someone is unbrainwashed some of that junk has to be in there somewhere causeing the person to get lost in what life they are really living and which one they came from. kinda tired of it being the cure all for anything thats not going right. maybe venom's bug will fry it all so they cant build a new one EVER!
i know im not the only one who feels this way about these two subjects as i have talked with friends about it and we all feel the same way. i just think i am the first one to bring these issues up? oppinions?

I am excited for this! The Josh Howard covers alone, look awesome! Snake Eyes is getting his own title by Dixon and Atkins??!! And the Civil War is very exciting. Why a Civil War? It's Cobra, I doubt they will each be doing there own thing. I'm sure there will be plenty of infighting and backstabbing! It's what they do!
I hadn't thought of the Mad Monk becoming Cobra Commander, That's not a bad idea!
I'm on the fence with the CC Tribute Issue. Not a fan of those normally, but a few GOOD interviews and stories could convince me to pick it up. We will see.
I can't wait!

OK, is anyone else worried about how that spambot managed to make an almost relevant sounding post? Frikkin scary if you ask me..... HELLSTROM wrote: So the "Dude. Remember I am an old man, I post how I would talk to you if were were sitting around having beers. The more I think about it I have to be honest that the idea of a body count contest to decide the new leader is kind of ridiculous. I mean what is this the stone age and the biggest male get to be chief of the herd? The best button man is NOT the best leader. I grant that there could (nay SHOULD) be wheels working in the story that we have no idea of yet. That would be in line with the way the cobra title plays with misdirection and could in fact make this medicore idea actually really cool. Just have to see how its done, even if this is as simple as it sounds the execution can certainly make whole ride worthwhile. And VoR, I think your worries about the mass device are for naught. I am fairly certain the reason this last arc is called Mas Destruction is because Snakes and Helix don't leave a working mass device (or a living scientist capable of repairing or rebuilding it) in their wake....

Snakes and Helix took the two main scientests with them in their mad dash to escape in issue #26. If they were going to kill them why not just leave them behind? The big explosion would have solved that. Are we reading the same book Hebime? Oh wait... SPOILER ALERT!
