Quote: Chuck Dixon (w) • Robert Atkins (a) • Atkins, Agustin Padilla (c) Snake Eyes and Helix battle against all odds when they invade the Himalayan fortress filled with Cobra vipers. Vikrim Khallikhan is in the running to be the next Cobra Commander and figures that killing the most dangerous Joe of them all gives him a lock on the title. The Cobra Civil War is just heating up!

I for one cant wait for this to hit the stores.... Loving the new story lines as it is giving a lot of action and still keeping to a story line.

Just caught the preview for this issue. Atkins is really knocking it out of the park on this series! I like the writing so far, especially the interplay between the characters.

Wow, this series is really good.
***spoilers***
A little more information about Scarlett and SE's relationship, a carefully edited set of plots, and a fallible SE. Khallikhan is a fresh character to have thrown into the mix. I'm hoping we get to see him around for a while. Glad I voted for him, first, and when push comes to shove in the race to be Commander, it's good to know he can hold his own.
I was surprised to see Alpine get hit. Glad to see it's not just red shirts, sad to see who it is. Call me sadistic, but I'd like to see Helix and Iceberg at least acknowledge some difficulty in getting down from there without Alpine's experience. It would only be fair, since Iceberg is there to keep them alive and Alpine is the transportation. I would have liked to see Doc or Lifeline, or maybe even Stretcher as a member of the team. I wonder if we will be getting any more explanations for why he picked these particular members... was it because of their skills. I would expect so, as it seems obvious, plus if there were a personality reason it would make me expect to see Stalker and Scarlett, really. But we're seeing new relationships so that's not really a given.
I like the uncertainty in these stories now.
The Vikram reminds me a little of the Fixer from Kurt Busiek's original Thunderbolts, but more cunning. Or a real world version of Iron Man's enemy the Mandarin. I appreciate the Serpentor-like familial history, puts him in a Destro type of role. To some degree, he's got a similar thing going for him that the classic Destro with his own bases, forces, and goals has. So, does he own casinos as a hobby, or am I confusing him with the Flashpoint Batman with his casino hobby? Was the last cover an early character design which went to press before the character was well defined?
Give me answers!

One tap on the head, and ol' Snake-Eyes goes down! Bam! How cool is that?!? I'm really liking this Khallikhan as a threat. This is kind of the way I envisioned the character of Black Dragon (whose never been seen in a R.A.H. Joe comic yet - but was fleshed out in the comic that came with a figure set back in the day)...

Similar thoughts, Seanely. Vikrim fills a niche I've often envisioned many obscure characters filling in the G.I. Joe universe. Seeing the dastardly duo at the end was nice, too, although I suspect, weakened Snake Eyes or not, there's good chances those two get nerfed. But it's nice to not know whether they'll live or die.
Good issue.

And we get SE slowing his heart rate, which is a ARAH tradition but not seen in IDW.

It ain't Vikram. I've a feeling the new Cobra Commander will be someone out of left field, but it's likely to be Krake or two words: Michael. Monk. Monk will play a role in this story which is my gut feeling and I think he is Krake's 'ace in the hole'. There's something fishy going on in this storyline and I can't quite put a finger to it. It's the way the writers are setting things up. I can smell it.

I have no doubt your Khallikhan prediction is likely spot on.
But... I'm glad to be getting villains who are both new and capable. I'm almost more interested in seeing how these guys all end up being handled in the long run than I am with who gets to play puppet leader.
Krake is cool. Monk is definitely our most likely "left of field" choice.
