Notice the small typo on cover b that say #7 instead of #8

I paid the $3.99 comixology price to purchase this issue, mainly because i wanted to complete my civil war story. I knew from last week that Vargas didnt make it; but like others, I was curious to see if Duke would be the biggest casualty from the Civil War and meet his doom, perhaps saving Snakeyes, since it appears Duke is "dead" in the new Joe2 movie.

But, no, the story is tied up rather neatly, and even the non-toy joe Lighthorse survives at the end.

I really enjoyed this issue visually more than script, because the art is so badass, as usual, with Atkins and this new guy in the se series.

Dixon actually writes these issues better than the main series, imho.
He's kept Snakeyes from going all uber ninja yet kept him cool and deadly. Its amazing how he can keep the ninja stuff under reality but has the sci-fi cranked up to the extreme impossible elsewhere.

I'm going to keep buying the se and cobra stuff; but probably letting the main series go after seeing silversurfer, i mean, smoke monster, i mean destro in the last two issues.

And I like this version of Kwinn better than Hama's. Why?
Because instead of a mystery man, we get more of an ally.
Sure, his actions could've been easily replaced by Stalker, for example in the old marvel universe.

I'm just liking the team of Helix and Kwinn with Snakes, adding a few specialists like Alpine and Iceberg if they fit the mission. And I'm interested to get glimpses of Kwinn and Storm Shadow in his past.

Heck, lets send Snakes deep into the jungle with Recondo and Muskrat next. Lets see him in the desert with Spearhead and Dusty. Lets see him go seal team 6 with Wetsuit, Shipwreck, and Torpedo

This was probably my favorite comic book I've read in half a year or something.

The legions of Toxo Vipers were awesome. This was a GREAT use of the later year skinny Toxo Viper, as kind of the Toxo Viper Officer. I loved seeing multiple versions in the same room.

That geeky looking dude tried to take down Snakes for a whole three or four panels with just a dagger.

What were those two heavy weapons Toxo Vipers? A lot of these guys looked like a Toxo Saw Viper and a Toxo Heat Viper. Completely creative. I'm pretty secure in saying that it looks like this artist just sort of made them up to fit the situation. This is a really good title pretty regularly and I didn't expect to ever say that.

It would have been neat to see that burn damaged Toxo Viper toy as a background casualty. There's something else I couldn't have ever imagined saying.

This artist was really great to look at. The tiny little figures with careful simple costume details and muted colors were quite easy to see, this guy is almost more a cartoonist than a figure artist, and it works really well for these scenes.

I got the toy cover but I really want that variant. I was hoping to not get any of the toy covers but alas! No choice.

I'm with you. I hate those *bleep*-ing toy covers. There's no real imagination in them imho... Luckily, I only got stuck with one. Well, there's always e-Bay...

:x

I liked the SE series a lot, both arks so far, the one where he goes after Khalikhan and now the "Save Duke" one. Issue #8 wasn't the best imho, but it got the job done.

I'm a bit upset, because I wanted to read SE8 first, but I followed the release order and got spoiled on the Vargas death.

I love the take on Kwinn, except for one thing. The Inuit are really not the kind of people to keep favor tabs, so it's kind of weird how Kwinn keeps saying this about him and SE owing each other favors. Then again, one could take it as his way of dealing with white folks. Like, he says it, but really, he'd be there anytime if SE needed him.

Hmm, the look Duke gave SE and Scarlett at the end said a lot. I wonder if we'll ever learn about the Duke/Scarlett history. Poor Mainframe, he's way out of his battlefield, as Dial-Tone said.
