Nice. Maybe they'll get back to telling 'Cobra' style stories.

I know it is unlikely but I wish it was revealed that somehow, someway that Chuckles is not dead. He was such a cool character in this universe. Have him lose his memory or something but I wish that they would not have killed him.

IT would be so easy to bring him back. I hope they dont. But the explosion is seen from the sky. So anything could have happen in that submarine pen.

And 100% agree he was the version of Chuckes ever. Jerwa with IDW saved him from the terribleness of the Marvel run.

I think that fact that he killed Jinx and then for the next like 20 issues was on self destruction mission made very cool

the thing with chuckles, him and xamot were getting in the sub. now unless the explosion did damage to the haul of it, and it sank, theres no real "no way" factor on him surviving. after all the toon had that crazy cook living in the sunken wreck of the flagg.

Great, great issue! Was super glad to see this creative team back together again. Cobra is pretty much the only series I am looking forward to anymore. It will be interesting to see where Costa goes next.

Chuckles has just become one of the best characters in GI Joe. I think its time he gets an update as a figure.

Jerwa really hit on something when he wrote that Frontline story that started his career. Cause Chuckles is just awesome even when dead

It took me a while, but I finally figured out what is bothering me about this continuity. It's quite simple.
Hawk is a villain. He doesn't take the moral high ground like he does in Hama's writing. He is no better than the evil he fights, and will use the same tactics they employ to achieve victory. He has no qualms with traversing a short-cut and watching his own people suffer the consequences in ever-increasing mortality rates, because the end justifies the means to this man. The Constitution is irrelevent to him, along with the sanctity of life (even an enemy's), blood-bought liberty and the selfless pursuit of happiness.
I cannot, and will not, care about this Hawk. He is nothing more than an overrated Juggler. I don't care that he was fired - Cobra should be commended for removing such a corrupt figure within the ranks of our military - and I hope that IDW can do more with the heroic figure of Joe Colton than they have done with this character, who is so unlike the original manifestation presented by Hama back in the day.

I shall profess shoddy memory as my excuse for being wrong (if I am), but is Hawk portrayed differently in COBRA than he is in the other books? Because while I do recall and recognize his characterization in COBRA, I don't seem to recall him being the same kind of guy in Dixon's GI JOE...

He does seem to have diverged slightly from his initial appearances in "Origins" (which were written by Hama)...

:(

"We're the good guys, Duke, you just remember that."
Hawk in GI Joe #0

Well, it was great to have Fuso back. Not that I didn't like Cal (quite the contrary), but Fuso just gives this book its original feel, and so it was great to see Chuckles again.

IMHO, it wasn't the best issue ever though (nor was Joe #12). But this is the aftermath of Cobra Command, so I understand you need punctuation once in a while to reset the stage.

Also, it wasn't clear to me what it was that Chameleon discovered that Hawk knew about Chuckles... :?: His death? His planned suicide? The CC kill? I was confused.
