I like the alternate art style of the Cobra book, but this cover is a little too cartooney for me. It reminds me of Future Noir. Or Teen Titans.... or ..... something...

Okay. SPOILERS ALERT PLEASE*****

Before that story begins, near the conclusion of the Nanzhao Invasion, at a new sneak preview I just saw, Baroness was assigned to kill the council members. If you guys LOOK carefully, IDW 'cut to the chase' off panel to the final member, Consul Prime.

AND Jinx was assigned to track Baroness down inside Nanzhao. Are we supposed to believe that Baroness went all around the world taking the council out or was ALL of the council members located in this country? Would'nt going global make her that easy to catch?

LOOK at Consul Prime's house. It looks too tropically designed to be in a jungle environment. AND think how long it takes for her to take these people out one by one. How long did the Nanzhao conflict take? A few days? Months?

If Jinx could track Baroness down easily and if Baroness went out of the country, Jinx could've tagged her, telling her team-mates the coordinates to catch her again.

Why would CC send Baroness to do the assassinations when Zartan would do the job perfectly fine? Don't you all find that odd? There's only one possibility. It's a major distraction to keep Baroness "busy" so he can keep her away from the other Cobra members and he probably sent Zartan somewhere else because he knew SE and SS are busy fighting each other (well, not anymore at the moment).

IDW did'nt make that clear. I think IDW's biggest weakness is they pulled a "DDP" with WW3 by compressing the storyline. I hate to say it but that was a big mistake. A lot of things we did'nt see occured off panel but I'm sure it was their intent to do so to fill in our imaginations on the 'after effects'.

After all, why would Krake send Baroness to kill the council members when Zartan already started that job by taking out the Oyabun?? Right there, Zartan could've extracted info from that guy and passed it to Krake and the rest of the council members' identity and whereabouts.

IDW has some great ideas but this is sloppy execution right there.

EDIT. PS. One more thing. I knew that Krake would use the Nanzhao invasion to 'distract' and smoke out the council members. I called it months ago.

No comments on this yet? I thought it was great. I loved seeing FireFly AND Blackout! It was a little far fetched, but pretty cool. I still prefer seeing FireFly always 'masked up', but I guess I'll get used to this version.
So FireFly is working for Cobra, Baroness I'm guessing? Who is Blackout working for? They say he was left out in the cold. I can only imagine him working for Baroness, even though that doesn't really make sense considering my thoughts on FireFly... Any ideas?

Can't wait for next month!

its not hidden that i dislike this book and now its on the edge of hate.

the story read like a high schoolers essay. i felt like i was reading a "kids" book and with the craptastic anime art i found myself rushing through this book speed reading it just to get it over with.

maybe its on its way out. when the dialog starts to slip and we get anime art. you know people with weird proportions, things like mouths and noses missing, hard sharp lines where they shouldnt be... always seems to me that the book isnt paying for itself so to keep it going they cut corners with cheaper writers and artists.

ok bash me again and say the book is making a profit and the story is awesome. if so, why doesnt the art support that. none of the other books are that bad. this is a visual medium, people should look like people and not a saturday morning cartoon, especially if the writing isnt that well. but hey thats just me. <puts on flame suit>

Not my favorite art, but the fight scenes seem to flow like Frank Miller's old work in the '80s and '90s. 'Course, I've never been a big fan of copying the style of another artist, but an homage is nice, and since we're dealing with ninjas and other influences...

:)

The art was such a turn off for me. The story was okay, but the art took away from it. I'm picky. To be a good read a comic must have the perfect balance of art and story.
