Best Origins issue so far! IDW is developing Cobra into something really really special.
I totally can see a cable TV series based around this "grand scale" Cobra organization.

Wow, great first issue in this ark!
So far, much better than DDP's or Max Brook's version about how someone becomes part of Cobra.
The DDP Special Mission: The Enemy in particular was all about this wash-out who makes all the wrong choices in life. This is the opposite: a good person to whom a bunch of horrible things happen and willing to sign anything.
The Brook's story was similar to this Origin's tale, but they were the faceless legion, it was hard to get really attached to one character. This ark, I hope will be doing just that over 4 issues. It will make his ultimate faith (death? success within cobra? defect to GI Joe?) all the more significant.
