Better yet? Somebody might want to tell Larry to go back and reread the Marvel run. He wrote the death. And yeah...you want to do this series IDW? Read the old ones to catch this stuff. Just another negative on the book for me. Poor editing and a writer who can't remember his past work on the book.

Nope it didn't come out today as planned- apparently it's scheduled for next week; my apologies for that.

Regarding other things... you draw what's written, you don't question the script. Know what I mean :2guns:

Well...yeah. You are only the artist on the book right? That's not your fault.

larry hama said that he doesn't care about retroactive continuity. an excuse i was not happy with. ddp is coming closer and closer to being my "official" continuation of the classic run.

That sounds as if you have asked him about this Sneak Peak deal. Have you? Or are you talking about a past comment he has made?

It was asked and replied to on Larry Hama's Facebook page.

Can someone post exactly what Hama said on facebook? Not liking "retroactive continuity" doesn't really explain anything in this situation. That to me says he doesn't like ret-conning, but this isn't a ret-con, it seems like a mistake. Or was someone trying to use a ret-con to explain it, and he replied saying he didn't like it?

My understanding is in the past he hasn't worried too much about continuity in general. Which would explain the sneak peek error. He just isn't that concerned about these things, so he probably forgot. I dunno.

I'm a big fan of Hama's run on GI Joe, but I also don't really hold with his writing philosophy of not knowing where the characters are going and not really worrying about being tied down by continuity. It means things are a bit fast and loose, and I tend to like tighter continuity. But I think like any writing philosophy there are pros and cons. The ghost of sneak peek seems like a con in this case though.

PS the art looks great and both covers look fantastic! Can't wait to get past the brainwave scanner! That will happen, right?!

And another thing I don't get is how somebody can enjoy his work if he does not care about stuff like this. Even if he does not care about countinuity you can't just drop a dead character back in without an explination. Did the editors at Marvel prevent stuff like this error back in the day and IDW just does not care? Or has Larry just forgot a good chunk of the Marvel run and pulling names as needed? IDW has given him "free reign" right? Stuff like this in my opinion can still be vetoed IF they had bothered to catch it. Something tells me from his comments that the artist knew about it at least. So if this stuff will keep happening? It's just another reason for me to drop the book and keep Marvel/DDP as the "official" continuation. I know for a fact that with the editorial heavy handeness at DDP? This would not have happened there. Just saying. Hell...I know for all the praise Larry gets on Joe? I'm there on that front. Just not EVERY Joe story he has written. We have to remember he was the last person approached at Marvel and if I remember right? it's just a job to him.
