HASBRO ANNOUNCES ONLINE AND BROADCAST AIRDATES OF
G.I. JOE: RESOLUTE ANIMATED SERIES

Episodes Of Highly Anticipated Series To Air Online Leading Up To Broadcast Finale On Adult Swim

PAWTUCKET, RI – April 15, 2009 – Hasbro announced today that G.I. Joe: Resolute, an adult fan oriented animated mini-series, will be broadcast via Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim on television as well as online. Based on the classic G.I. JOE brand, Hasbro created 60 minutes of total content for this new story which will be presented as 11 episodes.

Beginning on April 17, fans will be able to see the first five minutes of the brand new, stand-alone animated mini-series on AdultSwim.com. These episodes are broken down to ten 5-minute episodes and one 10-minute finale. Following the first episode on April 17, subsequent installments will be posted on the Adult Swim website leading up to a full presentation of the entire series. This finale will be broadcast on Adult Swim April 25 at midnight. This televised event will not only feature all episodes seen online, but will be the first time fans can watch the final 10 minutes of the G.I. Joe: Resolute saga. All episodes, including the finale, will be available to view online after this airing.

Intended for the adult fan that grew up with the brand in the 80’s, G.I. Joe: Resolute received standing ovations at both the G.I. JOE Convention, “JoeCon,” and San Diego Comic-Con in 2008 where sample clips were previewed. Since then, fans have eagerly been awaiting the announcement of air-dates for the series.

“In a very exciting year for the G.I. JOE brand, we’re thrilled to be able to bring the G.I. Joe: Resolute animated series to the adult G.I. JOE fan,” said Michael Verrecchia, Director of G.I. JOE Entertainment Marketing. “Adult Swim is the perfect broadcast platform to deliver the series, which features a more sophisticated animation style and story than prior animation.”

Hasbro developed the animation with executive producer Sam Register as well as a powerhouse creative team at Titmouse Studios including Joaquim Dos Santos, a veteran animation director, who worked closely with award-winning comic writer Warren Ellis, who penned the entire series. This highly regarded team brings an edgy, intense feel to the series, which will feature the most popular characters in the G.I. JOE vs. COBRA canon. Iconic characters such Duke, Snake Eyes, Scarlett and Roadblock will do battle with Cobra Commander, Destro, Baroness and Storm Shadow.

Well :censored:

I knew this would happen.
When it was announced as an internet thing, I knew I'd get screwed.
Hey, anybody who lives outside the US, better go check to see if your as boned as I am.
You can only see video on adult swim if you live in the US(and probably Canada is my guess)
They say if you live in Europe you could try their British site.
Maybe its just me and Jamar who are boned.

Well, I'll just pirate it off the internet after it gets broadcast.

The worst part?
They make you watch ads BEFORE they say 'Oh yeah, hey, you can't watch this, eff you'

I checked hasbro.com and they DO allow us strange ferriners to watch their videos.
Adult swim are just cheap bastards.

What the heck is a 5 minute episode? What is that like an extended commercial for GI Joe?

That just seems really silly to me.

I just hope this will be popular enough to spawn an actual series. I know we are all hyped up for this, but think about it...April 17th to April 25th, a little more than a week and then...poof! It's done. I hope that Hasbro has something else up their sleeve for Resolute and this week long Resolute-fest will end up just being a teaser for something MUCH BIGGER.
Resolute has SO much potential with the cartoon and I even enjoyed the first two comics from the comic packs. :D

These five minute episodes sounds like the Star Wars Clone Wars series that came out a few years back, before the current CGI series. They followed those up with slightly longer episodes. They actually worked fairly well, and I would think it's at least a possibility that we'd get more of a series if these are popular enough.

Why do I get the feeling the Resolute creators have a better understanding of G.I. Joe then the movie creators?

Doing 5 minute episodes sounds like not much can be done, but if scripted right then it can work. I suppose the worst thing would be coming up with the cliffhanger endings. Those first Clone Wars cartoons, the 2-3 minute ones, were all self contained. The second batch with longer installments ran longer and tied together somewhat episode to episode. This would seem to follow that and have an overall plot that ties them together. It can work. At least it seems that each chapter will be put up daily until the tv airing on the 25th. Otherwise they won't have time to air them all.

Anyone else catch that Roadblock rather than Heavy Duty is being used in this series?

Hmmm-I thought there were copyright issues?

I think the 5 minute format is fine. Its a smaller investment and means they can take greater risks.
I'd rather see 12 5 minute episodes aimed at adult fans than a new 55 half hour episode season of the last Joe cartoon.

Quoted for TRUTH! Looking forward to seeing a Joe cartoon that doesn't cause my stomach to wretch.

Over at Hisstank.com (yes, I know some people don't like the site), it says that the Canadian channel "Teletoon" will be showing Resolute on the 24th:

Canadians aren't able to watch the trailer either, which is totally normal for canadians. Sadly even if no Canadian broadcaster picks up the rights of a show we still can't watch shows online on US television networks' websites. But yeah, it's a broadcasting rights issue. Sucks when I miss an episode of something (the unit for example) and can't see it on the network's site. It's especially ridiculous for a trailer. It's an AD for crikey's sakes! Good news that it's on Teletoon here in Canada, I know I'll be tuning in.

Anyways, the trailer is on youtube:

Oh, and it looks pretty freekin cool!!!!!!!!
