Well I am big on collecting Joe toys and I just picked up the new Duke figure well on the back of the package it says that Duke is a 0-4 Major. This is great in my view. I never did understand why the comics or the cartoon never made him an officer. Well this is already one plus in my book for the movie. A major is kind of high but hey I like it. I hope I am not the last to find out aboput this I was so happy to see it I did not read to see if anyone else alreay knew this. Well anyway how do you all feel about it?

Well, not to get on the bash the movie band wagon, but a major?
No, I can't buy it. He is way to young to be a major.
I could maybe buy Captain.
But even that would be a strecth. If he is a team leader, then 1st Lt. would be closer.

I made Major at 32 (just prior to 33), I made Captain at 27, and I know guys who made Captain as early as 24-25. (Usually they had gone through an early comissioning program)

Just for discussion.

I don't think it's that much of a stretch. Different from the Duke we all grew up with, yes, but it's not as far-fetch as saying he was a colonel or general.

Like I said, I could buy Captain.

Maybe it's not much of a stretch, he is actually 29. But color me surprised when I looked that up, he always looked much younger to me.

OK so he's the Army's Dougie Houser.

I find it real disappointing, cause I always liked the fact he wasn't an officer, kind of part of the character.

Guess they aren't giving out battle feild commisions like they use to... So if he was just an elisted soldier SGT. is about as high as you can go with out a commission from battle at least thats the Marine Corp does it.

Yeah I agree with your other post about being a Lt. but as I said int my original post chalke it up to Movie B.S. But how cool would it have been to have Neil Patrick Harris play Duke.....
