Well....after 20+ years....the end of an era has come...I will no longer be getting every cover and incentives for GI Joe comics....
I became extremely busy with work and my pull list started building at my LCS and when it came time to start picking and choosing, I found myself buying the non-GI Joe comics first. I will buy the stuff in the pile that is still there, but I will no longer pull incentive covers and will limit myself to one cover per book. I will continue to read, but I just can't keep up anymore.

I know the feeling, when I lost my job then got sick I found myself just getting Cap and Joe...then it dwindled down to just Joe, now I havent been getting any books....and I had like 3 bags worth of stuff from my pull list....the owner was gonna keep them aside for me since he knew I was good for it, but I told him just sell them cause I didnt know how long if id ever be able to catch back up....

It is amazing how time & life wear down a collector.
With Jeff Bohn selling his Joe collection, Hellstorm giving up on ARAH. it is like some of the most die hard Joe fans are giving up on Joe when it is at its comic peak.
CCW 3 series and ARAH and then with 2 or 3 or 4 covers per issue in a month. Joe comics will never see this type of output again. It is overwhelming, I can barely keep up with it on YoJoe and got more free time then had in the States, but even I had ask for help, Skinny on the Joe boards is now doing the ARAH Summaries.
It is interesting how being over here away from my collection and only reading them online for a year now (well, I was back in the states in May, by the way I picked up 121 comics that had been released between jun 2010 and may 2011) has made really appreciate comics almost more than I ever did before.
Sometimes a break is good and it leads to changes.

I think a lot of us wrestle with cutting back or cutting G.I. Joe out altogether. Sometimes I feel that I have to keep getting the Joe titles simply out of loyalty. My interest in the G.I. Joe comics has waned quite a bit in the past few months. I used to get excited about the idea of three or four Joe comics per month, but now I long for the times of one Joe comic with one ongoing story per month. I have dropped Cobra (I know we aren't far into it, but it just doesn't have the same feel that the first two runs had) and Snake-Eyes (just can't really get into it). I wasn't sure how well I would like all three titles running together at the same time. I actually liked how when all three titles first came out they all had their own story and you didn't need all three books to understand it all. But that is no longer the case. I will keep up with the main title for now, in the hopes that I can get the "main" story in this title without having to pick up the other two.
@Phil: I stopped getting all the incentives a while back and now barely ever get them. It will have to be a cover that really knocks me off my feet, but with IDW not releasing their covers until late, by the time they do, it is too late to bid on them at my online comic shop.
I'm glad I'm not the only one whose G.I. Joe flame is starting to flicker and dim a little. It will be interesting in the coming months to see how this effects the title. I used to say I'd support the title no matter what, but at $3.99 per issue, I'd rather put my money into something I KNOW I'll enjoy (like the Marvel Ultimate Universe), than a G.I. Joe title that I just buy and read and do not truly enjoy.

You know what? Even IF Larry's new IDW continuation of RAH was some of his best? I still don't think I would have stuck with it. Because to me it falls under an alternate reality ala X-men Forever and I got burned out on that book LONG before it was ended. As I have said before, I have my continuation and it ended with America's Elite. I can't stand it when people come in and try to erase the past efforts of writers. JMS's run on Spidey was not to my liking, but if I were a writer coming onto Spidey after that? I would work things back to the norm for the character and then ignore it. Well...anyway...I honestly am glad to see you drop supporting the varient cover gimmick. Sales are not getting that big a boost from it anyway. Not on G.I Joe anyway. I still think it inflates the numbers and does not give a true account of how many are reading. But 2 copies of a book just for another cover? That would fall under "reprint" status for me. As in if I already have the issue? I only want a reprint in a tradepaperback. I do sometimes however wish I had a shop where I could pick my cover. Not happening with my shop ordering 1 per issue on the Joe titles. I have to take what he gets.

But then as I read the first arc or so, it actually solidified my belief that the continuation was the Image/DDP runs, ending with America's Elite like you said. It fits better and the more I read WWIII, it really does a great job of wrapping all things up.
