Weird. Sounds like a Nazi/Dark Occult thing. I like that it's Cuthulu instead of zombies. It makes me uncomfortable since this sounds like a Cobra La thing almost, except... it's oddly not really looking like that. If this plays up that the elite council of Cobra is into the occult, it would kind of make sense. Elitist leaders kind of get exposed to that stuff a lot. Bohemian Grove stuff. There really are people like Crystal Ball in this world, and they get paid a lot of money to act out stuff like this by powerful people, as superstitious and goofy as it is.
Hmm. I think if this book is crawling with Cuthulu creatures it will be pretty bad, but if it's just one I'll be down with it. "The thing in Cobra's basement."

Was very glad to know I was completely wrong. And regarding the eminent threat behind the event......I actually would prefer a human connection to it (even if it is Nazis). Straight-out Cthulhu weirdness fousing on JUST the mythos can be really bizarre. Even the faint Cobra-La connections (and how they've always kinda been Cthulhu-related anyway) that exist already - Crystal Ball being part of it, himself kinda connected to Cobra-La when they gave up on him and them in the early '90s - made the GI JOE aspect of this event FAR more interesting.

It's kind of wild that we're now getting this every year, instead of the "G.I. Joe & Transformers" stories... Not sure how I feel about that.

I'm down with that. I guess it's more that the tone of the presentation makes it more palatable to me as horror than whatever you would call the original Cobra-La stuff. As for the La La La stuff, well, not sure if everyone has gotten it yet, so I'll keep my mouth shut, just funny is all.

Not much to really care about here. Cool story & idea but I would prefer the Crossover with Transformers. Hey, here is an idea connect the 2 universes through this story so we can get a legit GI Joe/Transformers crossover.
Its coming someday no way can IDW keep avoiding it.

And honestly, DDP's crossovers were REALLY fun (though Vol.4 was horribly truncated). That GIJvTF Omnibus can provide more than enough entertainment (for me at least) while we wait for another crossover......

I agree DDP's series got better as they invested more time in the whole series of series. I really enjoy the time traveling seeing the Joes in 30's & 70's & future post nuclear war was ll neat & new. at the time I was so hoping the Joe of WWII Dreamawave stories was going to be cool but the art destroyed that book since it was impossible to tell who was who for both Transformers & Joes. When IDW does the crossover it will have to be its own thing. But here is better idea then cross Joe & Transformers in Infestation do it in the movie universe comics & then do it actually in the movies. Transformers are now way public & it seems like Joe maybe also. Upgrade the Nest team to the Joes and its an easy story to put together. Heck, Avengers is doing it, just put The Rock as Roadblock next to Optimus Prime & both fans are happy. Let it start in a comic.

Hate to say it, but the first part was better than the second, imho. I had a feeling that this would go to the Zero Hour, and then some sort of Deus EX Machina solution would appear. I was right. And the person that pulled it off was no surprise, either. Still, it was fun seeing Raptor in action again, especially as a nut-job. Cess-Pool doesn't count, and when you read the story, you'll know why. Gristle also doesn't count, since the original was a Headhunter and had nothing really to do with Cobra. This version of him is a lunatic fire-bug, sort of like how Firefly has been portrayed in "Reloaded" and Renegades. Oh, give us more Interrogator. I love this guy!

*SPOILERS*
Cess-Pool: dead, because he wasn't immune to the song. Gristle: dead, becaus ehe blew himself up in his craziness.
Scarlett was overtaken for a while.
Not bad, but some sort of a failed ending. I guess they meant to leave the door open for Infestation 3 or some sequel.
Anyway, what's unfortunate is that we all know we can go on to ignore this completely. I would have preferred it if they made it its own universe, like Future Noir or something. What I mean is that we know for instance they will just kill minor characters unseen in the main series, so that the impact from Infestation to the rest of the books is minor or inexistent.
But if this were truly its own universe, then Baroness could die, or Crystal Ball, Snake-Eyes may actually have to kill Scarlett, etc., so a lot more would be unexpected.
