Hama made a mistake when he re-introduced Sneak-Peek, right? I just finished re-reading G.I. Joe #145, where Stalker and Rock 'n Roll pay a visit to fallen comrades at Arlington. Who do they name (and see) as the fallen?:
1. Gen. Flagg
2. Breaker
3. Doc
4. Crank Case
5. Crazy Legs
6. Heavy Metal
7. Quick Kick
8. Thunder
9. Avalanche
10. Blaster
11. Blocker
12. Dodger (a mistake; he's alive)
13. Knockdown
14. Maverick
15. Cool Breeze
16. Mangler

... But,there is no mention of Sneak-Peek. Premonition? Perhaps...

Yeah, I think it was mentioned over at the IDW forums that Larry only reread the last 10 issues of the Marvel run before starting the IDW continuation. That was a mistake from the Marvel days and since that was as far back as Larry read? Some say that is where the mistake came from and not that he forgot. If Sneak Peak and Darklon were never intended by him to be dead to start with? I don't think Larry's writing style would have let it sit untouched for so long. That's the way I see it. I think his mistake came from the reread of #145. However...this does not mean Sneak Peaks return from the grave in the IDW book could not be left alone and unexplained. That's what I was mad about. The comments after being called on it.
At least he IS doing something about it.

Man, I'm kinda worried (if that tribute list is something Larry's working off of nowadays) about Dodger's status in ARAH.

I'm comforted in knowing that Larry used Dodger in his proposed/unpublished Bench Press team, but let's hope he remembers that......

The Dodger mistake is easy enough to make. Everyone in Battleforce 2000 was killed, except him. It would be a simple faux pas for Rock 'n Roll and Stalker to make if they started rattling off the names of their fallen comrades and included him among his dead brethren. They were a very tight-knit, 6-man team anyway.

All I can say about this is that Stretcher must be one terrible medic. Considering back in Benzheen he took one second to examine Sneak Peek and concluded "this man is dead!" :)

I have always been told there are many things happening off panel then on so who are we to say that Stretcher didn't attempt to save him after the issue concluded. O when they were doing the autopsy he was not completely dead only mostly dead?

Well, we definitely have to accept that position at this point. Stretcher may have been in on it (as per Chuckles' orders), or not. But whatever the reason, his diagnosis was wrong or intentionally misleading...

The only way around this is to say that Stretcher was in on it. CONSPIRACY! :D

In retrospect, Hama has covered himself pretty good, but it relies on really shutting your eyes to a lot of Sneek-Peak's death. The events leading up to him getting gunned down are about as random as you can get on a battlefield (pushing the kid out was hatched by a couple of Vipers). If he knew beforehand he had to go undercover, then his orders were "when the opportunity presents itself, do something you know, will likely get you killed."

Faking a car accident sounds easier.

The only thing I can think of is Sneek-Peak was then rushed to a medical tent, saved by Stretcher, (while everyone else was told he was dead) with the intent of putting him undercover, and was then told about his mission while recovering (in secret).

At least this gaffe wasn't Doc. Imagine explaining THAT.

If it was DOC it would of been explained that the head of ted williams was placed on his body and his memories were eplaced with Docs... that would make for a really great nightmare scenario for a joe like cross country.

NOt that I really hink about it Hama should of used Dodger for that mission making that mistake on the grave stone even more plausible but I like the idea of Sneak peek being back during the Cobra Civil War he was pretty cool. Then again I still want them o take Cross Country to a lunatic drunk like DDP did with flint just less I have nothing to lose.

Let's be honest. You just can't kill Stephen King's son. He'll come back as an alien clown, a pig-stained tele-kinetic or some other inner-dimensional beast... Hama saved his own life, if you ask me!
